Faith That Leaves a Legacy
“LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.” – Psalm 144:3-4
The year is flying by—can you believe it’s already May? Life moves fast. So fast, in fact, that we often forget to pause and ask the deeper questions:
Am I living with eternal purpose?
What legacy will I leave behind?
These are the questions I’ve been sitting with lately—questions that aren’t always comfortable, but are absolutely necessary. As someone who has the honor of walking with families through funerals and memorials, I’ve had many opportunities to reflect on what really matters. What remains when our days—our fleeting shadows—come to an end?
And the answer, time and again, is this: our spiritual legacy.
The most valuable thing we leave behind isn’t a resume, a reputation, or even a good name. It’s our faith in Jesus—and the ways we’ve intentionally passed that faith on to others.
That’s why the entire month of May at New Hope Church is dedicated to one compelling theme:
Faith That Leaves a Legacy.
A Month of Intentional Reflection
Throughout this sermon series, we’ll be digging into questions like:
What kind of spiritual imprint are we leaving for our children, youth, and young adults?
How are we mentoring and helping them grow in their walk with Jesus?
How do we begin to pass the leadership baton to the next generation?
What happens if we don’t?
These aren’t just rhetorical questions—they’re calls to action. Because if we’re not building into the next generation, we’re not fulfilling the mission of the Church.
Launching the New Hope Legacy Fund
As part of this movement, I’m thrilled to announce the New Hope Legacy Fund—a new initiative designed to invest directly in the leadership and discipleship of our young people.
The Legacy Fund will provide:
Leadership development opportunities for students and young adults
Spiritual growth resources like retreats, trainings, and workshops
Missional experiences that equip young people to serve beyond the walls of New Hope
Internships and mentorships to help them lead Jesus’ church with wisdom and boldness
We believe this is not just a program—it’s a declaration:
“If they don’t lead, they leave. So we choose to equip them instead.”
A Legacy That Lasts
Let me ask you directly—what kind of legacy is God calling you to leave?
Maybe it’s time to:
Start mentoring a young person
Lead or host a Connect Group
Give generously to the Legacy Fund
Share your testimony with someone younger in faith
Pray over your role in passing on what you’ve received
We cannot afford to leave our legacy to chance. There’s too much at stake. But there’s also too much hope not to move forward—together.
Let’s invest in a faith that will outlive us. Let’s create a legacy that honors Jesus.
With hope and vision,
Pastor Vicki
