You Are a Missionary – Live Like It

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ at New Hope,

Are you aware that you are a missionary?  I think too often we think of missionaries as people who go somewhere out there to share Jesus with others.  But God has empowered us to share Jesus with others right here.  Every single one of us is a missionary in our family, neighborhood, workplace, gym, golf course, etc.  We are a sent people.  In John 20:21, Jesus says to his disciples, ...As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”  You and I are being sent out by the risen Lord to both live and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus wherever we are.  This is who God has created us to be. 

So dear missionaries, how are you on mission?  To what (or to whom) is God calling you?  No matter how young, old, poor, rich, happy, sad, or busy we are, Jesus is calling us.  And we don’t retire from being a missionary.  It is a lifelong calling.

I’m going to ask every single person reading this letter to pray about how God is calling you.  Where is your current mission?  To whom is your current mission?  Pray, pray, and pray some more!
