Learn to Protect Yourself from Fraud on November 13

Stay Safe. Stay Informed.

Fraud and scams affect millions of people each year, often targeting the most vulnerable in our communities. That’s why New Hope Church is partnering with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to host a Fraud & Scam Prevention Presentation on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Featuring Master Deputy Jeffery Merry

Leading the seminar will be Master Deputy Jeffery Merry, named the AARP Fraud Fighter of the Year in 2024. Deputy Merry has been honored by the Florida House, Florida Senate, Hillsborough County Commissioners, and even the U.S. House of Representatives for his outstanding work helping residents recognize and avoid scams.

Two Identical Sessions for Your Convenience

We want as many people as possible to benefit from this training, so we’re offering the same presentation at two different times:

  • 1:00–2:15 PM

  • 7:00–8:15 PM

Both sessions will take place in Social Hall C & B at New Hope Church. Choose the time that works best for you — no need to attend both.

Why This Matters

Scammers are constantly adapting their tactics, from phone calls and emails to online schemes. By learning how to spot the signs of fraud, you can protect your personal information, your finances, and your peace of mind.

This seminar is part of New Hope Church’s mission to serve and empower our community. By equipping people with tools for everyday safety, we live out our calling to Go Multiply — sharing hope and practical help with our neighbors.
