VPK Lead Teacher

Job Description:

If so, New Hope has an opportunity just for you! We are seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for Parttime VPK Lead Teacher for New Hope Early Learning preschool ministry. This school enriches the lives of children not only academically but also through faith-bases starting at the ages of 6 months through five years of age. Our goal here at New Hope is to effectively prepare them for kindergarten and contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can easily acclimate in the next level of education and learn about the love of God through you.

Objective:
VPK teachers are responsible for the implementing the VPK standards and early education of children in their care.

Employment Type, Classification & Hours:

Position would be part time. Monday- Friday 8:30am-1:00pm.

We follow Hillsborough County Public Schools calendar.

Employment Classification; Non-Exempt

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 45 hours mandated Florida training online

  • CPR/First Aid training

  • Florida staff credential or CDA

  • Preschool/VPK teaching experience (preferred)

  • Background check (we initiate and pay for)

  • VPK state trainings and requirements updated in 2021

Other:

  • Establish and enforce rules of behavior and routine for children in their classrooms.

  • Provide basic needs for children.

  • Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.

  • Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks and meals.

  • Have a basic understanding of Christian faith.

  • Self-starter and team player with other staff to work together to serve our families in our preschool community.

  • Incorporate the preschool philosophy, goals, and curriculum, and monthly themes in daily lesson plans and activities.

  • Perform “ages & stages “observations, execute appropriate VPK evaluations as expected by state standards.

  • To improve classroom skills through regular continuing education/complete required 10 hours of in-service- every year.

  • Comply with all licensing requirements for the classroom teachers.

  • Attend Staff meetings.

  • Prepare daily materials needed for the daily activities.

  • Update classroom schedule and follow it accordingly.

  • Maintain classroom in an organized fashion. Clean toys, tables, and stack chairs.

  • Implement the Pledge of Allegiance, and Blessings before snack/lunch every day.

  • Must be able to plan and work effectively with the other VPK teacher(s).
