Want to Play in the Super Bowl?
Preparing for the ultimate game—one with eternal purpose.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
There’s a rumor going around that a pretty big football game is happening on Sunday. You may have heard something about it. Nearly every athlete taking the field in Santa Clara was recruited at some point — first by colleges, then by professional teams. Each one had a level of God-given talent that someone recognized and wanted to invest in. And before signing on the dotted line, every player had to evaluate the opportunity in front of them and decide whether it was the right path for their future.
But have you ever considered that you have been through a recruiting process too?
If you’ve ever held a job, pursued education beyond high school, or stepped into a meaningful relationship, you’ve been “recruited” in some way. Maybe you didn’t pull out a checklist to weigh every pro and con, but you still made choices — choices that shaped the path leading to the moment you’re living in right now.
As you reflect on that, ask yourself: Did I invite God into those decisions? Did I seek His wisdom — perhaps through someone He placed in my life at just the right time?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
The truth is, God is in control of it all. We often try to manage the details ourselves — to force outcomes, to steer our own course, to make things happen on our timeline. But resisting God’s direction usually leads to frustration, stress, and unnecessary detours. And in the end, we still arrive exactly where He intended us to be.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” — Proverbs 19:21
We can’t know His full plan ahead of time. Our responsibility is simply to stay open to the path He reveals — and the best way to recognize that path is to stay in close communication with Him through prayer.
“Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
“Pray without ceasing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
So talk to God often. Listen for His guidance. Let Him show you the opportunities He’s placing in front of you. And when the time comes, you’ll be ready to step onto the field and play in the ultimate Super Bowl — the one waiting in heaven.
Have a SUPER week!
