Game Day
“God is with you at every starting line.”
Theme Verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Do you remember your first public performance? For me, it was a piano recital. I played a song entitled Dangerous Journey. It was a really fun song to play, but I’m sure I did not do it justice—and for that I apologize to both the composer (a fellow named Carl Koelling) and those attending the recital. In my defense, I was about 10 years old and frankly more interested in sports than piano.
That moment taught me something. When we step into unfamiliar territory, it can feel overwhelming. As children, we’re blissfully unaware of how nervous we’re “supposed” to be. But as we grow older and more self-conscious, we often shy away from new experiences simply because they’re uncomfortable.
Sound familiar? Of course it does.
What should we do in those moments of hesitation?
Surrender. Not to the pressure, but to God. Step back and hand the moment over to Him. He’s already prepared the way. The gifts, the talents, the strength—they’re already within us. Our role is to show up and trust the plan He’s written.
Here are a few verses that encourage us in those moments:
Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” A reminder that our role is not to control the outcome, but to walk faithfully.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” God’s presence is our greatest source of strength.
Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” He doesn’t just walk beside us—He holds us up.
John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” His peace is deeper than understanding—it’s a gift.
Psalm 56:3–4 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid.” Fear fades when trust takes root.
So, the next time a new opportunity comes your way, embrace it. You won’t be walking into it alone. God will be with you every step of the way. And that truth brings the peace and courage we need to face our own Dangerous Journey.
Have a GREAT week ahead—full of bold steps and quiet trust.
