Runway for a Reason: Your Admission Is a Bottle of Shampoo
There is a luncheon coming to New Hope Church on Saturday, October 10, with a fashion show and a room full of friends. But before any of that, here is the whole point of the afternoon in one sentence: we are filling ECHO's shelves for our neighbors in Brandon, and your admission is one full-size toiletry item.
There is no ticket and no cost. You hand a bottle of shampoo to a greeter at the door, and you are in. That bottle goes straight to a shelf, and that shelf goes straight to a neighbor.
The event is called Runway for a Reason — an ECHO fundraiser, luncheon and fashion show hosted by the Women of Hope Circles. The reason comes first.
Why toiletries, and why ECHO
ECHO is a Brandon nonprofit working on a simple model: neighbors helping neighbors. They stock real shelves with real supplies for families in our own community, right here in Brandon, down the road from the church.
And toiletries are the quiet gap on those shelves. Food drives fill pantries. But shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and deodorant are the things nobody thinks to donate and everybody needs — the items a family cannot stretch, substitute, or go without. On October 10, those are the shelves we are filling.
Last year, this gathering sent several bins of donated items to ECHO. This year we would like to send more.
How admission works
Read this part twice, because it is the detail people get wrong.
Your admission is one full-size toiletry item. Shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion — pick one on your next store run and bring it to the door.
Travel sizes do not count. ECHO stocks real shelves for real neighbors, and full-size items go the furthest. The hotel minis in your bathroom drawer, sweet as the thought is, will not get a family through the week. Buy the big bottle.
Bring more than one if you can. Every extra full-size item earns another entry in the door prize drawing — but honestly, the better reason is that every extra item is another week of soap for someone nearby.
One more thing, and it matters: there is no walk-up entry. The toiletry is your admission, but a reservation is your seat. RSVP is required, one per person, and registration closes Saturday, October 3. The Social Hall seats a set number of people, so the list really does close — do not wait for the week of the event.

Everyone means everyone
Runway for a Reason is hosted by the Women of Hope Circles, but it is not a New Hope-only event. So are your neighbors, your coworkers, your sister-in-law who has never set foot in New Hope Church. This afternoon is deliberately open to the whole Brandon community, because ECHO serves the whole Brandon community.
So invite somebody. A friend does not need a church membership or a ticket — just one full-size toiletry item and a seat next to you. Between the two of you, that is two more items on ECHO's shelves. Just make sure you each RSVP; it is one registration per person.
What the day looks like
Doors open at 11:30 AM in the New Hope Church Social Hall. Lunch is provided by the Women of Hope Circles, and it is worth showing up hungry for.
Then the runway. Our models are women from New Hope Church, volunteers from ECHO, and students from our community — every age represented, which is exactly how it should be. ECHO Thrift will also have their pop-up mini store open, so leave a little time to browse before you head home.
It is a fun afternoon, and a serious one at the same time: everybody in the room got there by putting something on a shelf for somebody else.
