Generous Living: Where Your Treasure Is… | Rev. Vicki Harrison
Are you using what God gave you—or burying it?
We don’t always think about how countercultural the Kingdom of God is. But as Pastor Vicki reminds us in this final message from our Generous Living series, Jesus didn’t just teach Kingdom values—He lived them. In her sermon, “Where Your Treasure Is…,” Pastor Vicki walks us through the radical truth of the Parable of the Talents and launches New Hope’s Talent Challenge 2025.

Key Takeaways from “Where Your Treasure Is…”
1. The Kingdom of God is radical.
Jesus didn’t come to start a religion—He came to proclaim and embody the Kingdom of God, here and now. It’s a Kingdom of justice, mercy, forgiveness, and sacrificial love. As followers of Jesus, we are not just invited to observe that Kingdom, but to expand it wherever we go.
“We are to be salt and light—flavoring and lighting up the world with Godly values.”
2. Everything we have belongs to God.
In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30), the master entrusts his servants with valuable resources while he is away. Pastor Vicki unpacked the cultural and economic context of Jesus’ audience, showing just how shocking and weighty this story was. The big idea? We are stewards, not owners.
“You can’t take a U-haul to heaven.”
Scripture reminds us in Deuteronomy 10:14 and 8:17 that our wealth, ability, and breath all come from the Lord.
3. We were created for spiritual profit.
The two faithful servants invested what they were given—and it multiplied. The third buried his. Pastor Vicki didn’t shy away from Jesus’ strong words in this passage. God doesn’t demand the impossible, but He does expect us to use what we’ve been given for His glory and the good of others.
“What profit are you creating for the Kingdom?”
Faith in Action: Join the Talent Challenge 2025
This isn’t just a message—it’s a movement. Pastor Vicki invites the church to participate in the Talent Challenge 2025 by taking a $10 bill from the back of the sanctuary and using your God-given creativity, time, and skill to multiply it. All proceeds will go to support Family Promise, helping homeless families in our community.
Bake. Paint. Host. Build. Hustle. Pray. Multiply.
