We Are All Warriors
A moment of strength and surrender as the light breaks through the darkness.
Verse of the Week:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…” — Ephesians 6:11–12
Although you may be reading this closer to Christmas, this reflection began on Veterans Day—written between stops on an annual scavenger hunt to collect the generous gifts local businesses offer veterans. By 10:00 AM, I had already enjoyed breakfast, a car wash, and a haircut.
Driving between these stops, a podcast reminded me that honoring warfighters is not unique to America. November 11 marks a global moment of remembrance—the day World War I ended with the Armistice of Compiègne in 1918. That thought sparked something deeper:
You do not have to wear a uniform to be a warrior.
Every Day, We All Go to Battle
Some battles are obvious. Others remain unseen. Yet they are battles all the same:
Fighting for our marriages
Battling addiction
Raising families in an increasingly challenging world
Each fight is honorable. Each fighter is worthy of recognition.
Yet the support systems for everyday warriors seem harder to find. As a veteran, I’m grateful for the appreciation shown each November 11. But as a soldier in God’s Kingdom, I long to see more of us rise up to fight the emotional, spiritual, relational, and societal battles surrounding us.
A Season of Reflection and Transformation
As we approach Christmas, we remember how the birth of Christ transformed the world. And in that reflection, we ask:
How can I be a transformational soldier in my circle of influence?
Here are some biblical truths to guide you:
Romans 8:37 — “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
We fight from victory, not for victory.Isaiah 40:31 — “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…”
God strengthens the weary.Matthew 5:14–16 — “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others.”
Your life reflects Christ to those around you.
Live as a Warrior of Light
Let’s step into this season determined to be soldiers of hope, agents of change, and warriors who shine Christ’s light into the darkness.
