Childlike Faith in an Adult World – Runner’s Church Devotion
Faith like a child—trusting fully, living freely, loving deeply.
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 18:3)
Children have a way of living with wide-eyed wonder. One of their favorite questions—“What’s next, Papa?”—isn’t just about the next activity. It’s a declaration of trust, a hunger for discovery, and a belief that the world is full of good things waiting to be explored.
As adults, we often trade that curiosity for caution, that trust for control. We settle into routines, build walls of certainty, and forget that we are still children—children of God.
But what if we reclaimed that childlike posture?
In Our Work
What if we approached each day with humility, trusting our leaders and teammates, and admitting we don’t have all the answers?
In Our Relationships
What if we listened more, judged less, and sought to understand before being understood?
In Our Learning
What if we stayed curious, open to new ideas, and slow to dismiss what we don’t yet grasp?
In Our Faith
What if we remembered that we are not the architects of our own salvation, but beloved children held by grace?
Whitney Houston’s classic song, “The Greatest Love of All” began, “I believe the children are our future.” But maybe the deeper truth is this: childlike hearts are the key to a better future.
In that spirit, let’s embrace these child-like characteristics:
Faith that trusts even when we don’t see the whole path
Humility that admits we need help
Innocence that delights in simple joys
Purity that seeks what is good
Trust that rests in the arms of a loving Father
So, what’s next, Papa?
Let’s live the question—with childlike wonder.
