Why We Go – February Missions Focus

Why We Go

Why do we do mission trips?

That question lies at the center of our February Love Our Neighbors focus. At New Hope Church, we believe mission trips aren’t just a side project — they’re part of the church’s heartbeat. Each trip is an opportunity to share the Gospel, serve others, and experience the joy of transformation — both in the people we go to serve and in ourselves.

As Alan Howe puts it, “It often boils down to love. It fulfills the Great Compassion of Matthew 25 and the Great Commission of Matthew 28.”

Mission trips reflect Christ’s example — stepping into someone else's world, building relationships, and sharing hope that lasts. It’s not just about construction projects or handing out supplies. It's about partnership. Learning. Worshiping together. Fanning the flame of faith.

We go because we’re called to love our neighbors — near and far.

Where We Go

This year, we’re spotlighting four areas where you can learn more, give, or even join a future team:

  • Mozambique: Empowering orphans through Zoe Empowers & Foundation for Orphans (Trip: August 17–27, 2026)

  • Cuba: Visiting and supporting our sister churches

  • Uganda: Partnering with Somali Refugee Ministry and Alpha Omega Seminary (Trip: October 2026)

  • Disaster Response: Short-notice recovery trips through Faith Responders

Each Sunday in February will highlight one of these areas in the lobby and online. We invite you to listen, learn, and take a next step.

What Happens When We Go

Mission trips grow faith in ways that Sunday morning can’t always reach. When you step out of your comfort zone to serve in another context, God often uses it to:

  • Stretch your heart and expand your worldview

  • Deepen your walk with Jesus

  • Teach you how to make disciples across cultures

  • Strengthen the local church (both theirs and ours)

Whether you go across the ocean or across the state, mission trips change lives — starting with your own.

Want to Learn More?

Stop by the missions table in the lobby each Sunday this month, or visit findnewhope.com/missions for more.

We’re here to reach the lost and empower future generations — through a multi-ethnic movement of disciples who make disciples. Going on mission is part of that.

This February, let’s rediscover the “why” — and ask God where He might be sending us next.
