"Falling in Love with Jesus: Teach How He Teaches” | Rev. Roberto Chaple

What Made Jesus’ Teaching So Different?

When was the last time someone’s words stopped you in your tracks?

That’s what happened in Matthew 7:28–29. The crowds were amazed—not because Jesus used fancy words or credentials, but because He taught with unmatched authority:contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}.

This sermon dives into the final part of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7), showing how Jesus not only taught truth, but made it memorable, accessible, and transformational. Unlike the religious teachers of His time, Jesus taught in a way that pulled people in—and called them higher.

Key Ways Jesus Taught (And How We Can Too)

1. He taught through demonstration.
Jesus didn’t separate life from lesson. His “classroom” was everyday life.

  • “I do it, you watch. You do it, I watch. You do it and someone else watches.”
This is how discipleship moves from teaching to multiplication:contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}.

2. He taught through illustration.
Jesus used stories people couldn’t forget:

  • The Good Samaritan

  • The Prodigal Son

  • The Lost Sheep
And creation itself became a sermon: birds, seeds, light, salt. He knew illustration helps truth land in the heart:contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}.

3. He taught for application.
Jesus always helped people see themselves in the message.

  • He placed a child in their midst to explain greatness.

  • He washed feet to teach about leadership.

  • He held a coin to teach about authority.

  • He broke bread to explain the cross.

Ultimately, Jesus didn't just explain truth—He led people to discover it themselves. He taught with questions. He gave ownership. He invited transformation.

How Does This Apply to Us?

We all teach in some way—through parenting, mentoring, leading, or just living out faith in public. The question is:

Are we teaching truth with love, clarity, and credibility—like Jesus did?

Jesus’ authority didn’t come from volume. It came from alignment—His life matched His words. If we want others to learn from us, it starts with how we live.

You don’t need a stage to teach like Jesus. You need a surrendered life.

  • Your faith is your best sermon.

  • Your love is your most powerful lesson.

  • Your integrity is your most convincing evidence.

Live the Mission: Teach Like Jesus

At New Hope, we believe every disciple is also a teacher—not by title, but by lifestyle. Teaching like Jesus is part of how we:

Know Jesus. Grow Faith. Go Multiply.

So here’s your challenge: Teach someone this week—not with just your words, but with your life. Start a conversation. Share what Jesus is doing in you.

Together, let’s build a multi-ethnic movement of disciples who make disciples.
