"Vision: The Ride to the Other Side” | Rev. Roberto Chaple
Are you stuck in the middle of a storm?
At the start of a new year, it’s easy to dream about the future—but hard to stay the course when challenges come. In this week’s sermon, Rev. Roberto Chaple kicked off our Vision 2026 series with a powerful message titled “The Ride to the Other Side.”

Key Takeaways from Luke 8:22–25
When Jesus said, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake,” it wasn’t just a suggestion—it was a vision. The disciples got into the boat. They followed Jesus. But halfway through, a storm rolled in. Sound familiar?
1. Vision defines the goal. Mission demands the movement.
Jesus gave both: a destination (“the other side”) and a method (get in the boat and row).
At New Hope, our vision is clear: “To reach the lost and empower future generations through a multi-ethnic movement of disciples who make disciples.”
And our mission is simple but bold: Know Jesus. Grow Faith. Go Multiply!
But we can’t just say it—we have to see it and do it.
2. Opposition doesn't mean you're off track.
Storms will come—sometimes right in the middle of obedience. Jesus fell asleep in the boat, and the disciples panicked. Even experienced fishermen thought they were going to drown.
The takeaway? Don’t confuse resistance with misdirection.
Opposition doesn’t mean you chose wrong; it often means you’re exactly where God wants you to be.
3. Don’t abandon the boat. Trust the One who sent you.
We’re tempted to give up when the vision gets cloudy. But sometimes God calms the storm, and sometimes He calls us to sail through it.
Just because the other side isn’t visible doesn’t mean it’s gone. Faith is trusting that Jesus is still in the boat—even when the waves are high.
Faith in Real Life: What’s on the other side for you?
After the storm, Jesus and the disciples landed in a place of liberation, transformation, and multiplication (Luke 8:26–39). A demon-possessed man was set free. A town witnessed change. A story was shared.
God’s vision always includes people on the other side.
So ask yourself:
What vision has God placed in front of you?
What’s trying to stop you from seeing it clearly?
Will you keep rowing even when the storm hits?
