"Jesus is the Only Way: How Bold Are We About Our Faith” | Matt Allred

A Personal Call Meets a Public Faith

This message stands as part of Young Voices, a rotating teaching series that highlights emerging leaders within our church family. In this sermon, Matt Allred shares how God’s work in his own life—particularly through mission, service, and Scripture—intersects with the bold witness of Peter and John in Acts 4.

Rather than focusing on position or title, this message centers on obedience. Matt reminds us that God often uses ordinary people, right where they are, to proclaim an extraordinary gospel.

Jesus’ Name Still Has Power

Acts 4 opens with Peter and John being questioned by religious authorities after a crippled man is healed in the name of Jesus. Even though Jesus has already ascended to heaven, His name continues to transform lives.

Matt highlights several truths from this moment:

  • Healing and salvation come through Jesus alone. His power did not end at the resurrection.

  • The resurrection validates everything we believe. Thousands came to faith because Jesus conquered death.

  • Jesus is the cornerstone. Though rejected by many, He remains the foundation of our faith.

At the heart of this passage is a clear declaration: “There is salvation in no one else.” This truth is not meant to create arrogance, but clarity—Jesus is the only way to eternal life with God.

Boldness Comes From Being With Jesus

As the story continues, the religious leaders are stunned—not by Peter and John’s credentials, but by their courage. Scripture says they were ordinary men with no special training, yet they spoke with confidence because they had been with Jesus.

Matt draws a direct connection to our lives today. Many believers hesitate to speak openly about their faith out of fear—fear of judgment, rejection, or discomfort. But the same Spirit that empowered Peter and John empowers us now.

Bold faith doesn’t always mean preaching from a stage. Sometimes it looks like:

  • Speaking about your faith honestly with friends or family

  • Praying out loud when it feels uncomfortable

  • Living in a way that causes others to ask, “What’s different about you?”

Living for the Right Audience

Peter and John refused to stay silent, even when threatened. Their response was simple: “We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”

Matt challenges us to consider whose approval we live for. Ultimately, our lives are shaped not by public opinion, but by obedience to God. When Jesus truly becomes the center, boldness follows.

A Call to Courage in a New Year

As we step into a new year, this message invites each of us to ask: What would change if I were just a little bolder about my faith?

God doesn’t call us to comfort—He calls us to faithfulness. And when we trust that Jesus is the only way, we are freed to live, speak, and love with courage for the sake of His kingdom.
